The theme of 2016’s Reading Passport is Book to the Future: a read of the decades.
We are celebrating literary greats of the past, present and future by recommending writers who have had an influential impact on literature throughout a one hundred year period from 1920 looking forward to the voices who will be influencing what we’re reading and discussing in 2020. The passport features books that are both written and set in each of the decades to celebrate the diversity of literature available to readers.
The Reading Passport encourages readers to read books from every decade by offering a stamp for each decade completed (to be awarded by librarians) each reader presenting a completed passport with stamps from every decade will be given the opportunity to win a suitcase full of books.
Our website gives readers access to specific reading lists of suggested, recommended and library selected reading lists, as well as to range of features including profiles of suggested titles from each featured writer, reviews and interviews. There are also downloadable resources including posters, logos and materials to support any events which might be held as part of the project.
Where will your Passport take you?
