Since Autumn 2016, libraries across the South West have been going Book to the Future with the 2016-17 Reading Passport. A partnership between Literature Works and the South Western Regional Library Service (SWRLS), the Reading Passport challenged readers to discover hidden treasures old and new on their library shelves.
This year you’ve been reading titles celebrating literary heroes of the past, present and future on a read of the past 100 years beginning in 1920 and highlighting every decade and its literary stars up until the 2010s.
We received over 200 hundred completed passports for entry into the prize draw, a record number of entries. Hilary’s entry was chosen by process of a raffle. To reward her for completing her read of the decades, Hilary will receive a suitcase full of books.
The prize will be presented as a vintage suitcase which is filled with 25 books from 15 publishers who have all featured in the passport. Amongst the selection, which has been donated by the publishers, are a mixture of special editions of much loved books and brand new titles from Vintage, Bloomsbury, Virago, Gollancz, Hogarth Shakespeare, Matador, HarperCollins, Black Swan, Solaris, Penguin Random House, Faber and Faber, Granta, John Murray, Accent Press and Sphere. Literature Works would like to thank all the publishers for their contributions to the prize.
We hope you’ve enjoyed going Book to the Future with us and we wish Hilary our congratulations and many happy hours reading.
Keep checking the Reading Passport website for details on where we’ll be taking you next.
