douglas-adamsDouglas Adams was an English novelist, comic radio dramatist and musician. He is perhaps best known for The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy which became a multimedia sensation. Starting off as a radio dramatization Hitchhiker was later adapted by Douglas into what he termed as a ‘trilogy’ of five novels which became instant bestsellers and which sold more than fifteen million copies during his lifetime and which are still vastly popular today. In addition to the radio shows and novels, the series also spawned computer games and numerous adaptations for the stage and screen.

As well as this series, Adams also notably wrote three stories for the science fiction television show Dr Who and script edited the 17th series.

Towards the end of his life he was a highly sought after lecturer, speaking on subjects such as technology and the environment.
